Something Significant Happened Here
In July this year, I was asked to help The Scatter Collective and designer Carla Goodman (www.carlagoodman.com) create a interactive installation/performance space that would form part of the 'Limina' tent for The Secret Garden Party Festival.
One of the more creative and artistically driven festivals, it welcomes artists and collectives to take part in the festival and offer experiences unique to the setting and nature of the festival goers. For example 'The land of soft things' was a tent with a hay bail pit, filled with pillows, that you could just sit in.
Scatter wanted to create a scaled down version of the festival that would serve as the beginnings of festival long activity, visitors were encouraged to share their experiences and favourite places in the map by adding to it in craft form. The Scatter Collective, then performed on the space generating pieces that came from the ideas left there by the audience. The tent was a free and open space for anyone to come and use and add to at any time (hense the 'low tech' form of prop making)
A more succinct explanation about the festival can be found at the below video (including some excellent shots about two thirds in of the festival's land marks, and their craft interpretations)
