Double Falsehood Scenic work
Both Javier and Phil (Willmott - Director) wanted an ethereal aesthetic to the floor, and for the colours and lanterns to look worn and suited to the Spanish setting and period. The tiled sections needed to suit typical Spanish outdoor paving.
I based the texture for the floor very loosely on this spiral galaxy
The lanterns went from aluminium to rustic metal (each a different mix of bronze, gold, black and brown)
The floor had a umber base coat
Then a top coat of cream, sponged and light rollored, the tiles where marked and then painted up with emulsion. (with the assistance of my very talented friend & scenic artist Katie Penn)
The final coat saw a very dilute brown being worked in from the edges, and concentrated around the imperfections in the floor to bring up the character as cracks and breaks.
