Multiple choice question:
A ______ event is one where an experience is created around fictional world which blends story with personal interaction.
is it:
A) Pervaysive Game
B) Interactive Immersive theatre
C) Transmedia Storytelling
Well, it turns out the answer depends entirely on who you are talking to.
Immersive theatre doesn't even get its own google definition it is that unknown a term. Which might sound mad to anyone in the theatre industry considering it's prevelance in the last decade or two, but still interactive immersive theatre is to pervaysive gaming, what a capsicum is to a pepper.

Transmedia story telling appears very much to be the digital version of both of these and a medium capable of incorporating them.
Having recently returned from GEEK festival of play and games after creating an immersive interactive games infused theatre piece with The Milo Wladek Co. I found that there is a striking similarity in the creativity behind theatrical story telling and the creativity behind Games design.
The popularity of the age and era defying Crystal Maze, and the emergence of events like Hint Hunt means there is a genuine desire to see the work out there. Which is handy, as it's an area of performance and experience design that I absolutely love working in.
